David Nicholls has finally announced the publication of his next novel five years after his bestselling novel One Day was released. One Day sold five million copies and was quickly followed by a film adaptation starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess.
While One Day was about finding love, his next novel, Us, is about the breakdown of love. A marriage of twenty one years is on the brink. The father, Douglas Peterson, takes his family on a trip to Europe determined to try and save his marriage and mend his relationship with his son before he heads away to college.
Nicholls may have taken five years to complete his latest novel, but he has not been idle. During this time he completed the screen adaptation for Great Expectations starring Helena Bonham Carter and wrote the romance drama 7:39, a two part TV play starring David Morrissey and Sheridan Smith, which was broadcast on the BBC.
Us will be released in September.
