Ethan Hawke to pen book on chivalry

On September 8, 2015

rulesforaknightEthan Hawke has penned his third novel, set for release in November. His wife Ryan Hawke will illustrate the book.

Set in 1483, Rules for a Knight tells the story of Sir Thomas Lemuel Hawke. Fearing he might die as he heads into battle, he writes a letter to his children imparting words of wisdom on leading a chivalrous life. He pens twenty virtues that provide a rulebook for living a noble life.

Publishing director Jocasta Hamilton said: “Executed with wit and elegance, Rules for a Knight is a parable for all ages which has the potential to become a classic. With the appeal of an Arthurian legend and the economy of Aesop, it draws on Eastern and Western philosophy and literature. I think we all need to be reminded, as well as taught, how to live.”

Random House will publish Rules for a Knight in November. Order the book here.
