Gloria Steinemís article in 1969 After Black Power, Womenís Liberation gave her a national following and elevated her to the status of feminist leader. Emma Watson is a fan. She recently chose Steinemís defining memoir My Life on the Road to kick off her feminist book club.

During Steinemís recent discussion with Watson she commented on our ability to build the feminist revolution with friendship, dancing and laughter. She reminded women to band together in support of each other and to celebrate their bodies.

ďOur bodies are instruments not ornaments. We should celebrate our different shapes and sizes, our caesarian scars and all the other beautiful imperfections that make us who we are.Ē

After a lifetime of campaigning for change, Gloria Steinem reveals the surprising and deeply personal encounters that have shaped her.

In Australia for the first time since the 1980s, Gloria shares her moving and profound story, from her early experience of social activism among women in India to the founding of Ms. Magazine.

Steinem will also give insight into the current US Presidential elections where she has been a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton. She has spoken of her horror at the hostility Clinton faces especially from women.

Steinem will appear at the Sydney Town Hall on Friday May 20, 6.15pm.

The Festival runs Monday May 16 to Sunday May 22.
