Miguel de Cervantes classic Don Quixote looks set to be brought to life on the big screen. Johnny Depp will produce the project for Disney. Depp has previously been involved with Terry Gilliam, screenwriter, film director and former member of the Monty Python troupe, on a similar project and has long held out hopes of producing a film based on Cervantes classic.

Disney has acquired the pitch for a modern storytelling of the delusional knight, who sets out to revive chivalry under the name Don Quixote, and his trusty squire. Steve Pink, co -writer of High Fidelity will be writing the screenplay with Jeff Morris.

The film will be produced under Depp’s company, Infinitum Nihil, which already has several Disney films under its belt including the recent The Lone Ranger, starring Depp.
