Liz Anelli spent her early years drawing on her dad’s electrical circuit diagram papers, copying her mum’s loopy handwriting and getting told off for daydreaming. Today she makes her pictures using collage and printmaking as well as paint and pencils. She has stacks of sketchbooks from around the world, annotated with information such as how to pick a lock in Kazakhstan using pencil lead, that fuel her books and illustrations.
Her publishing commissions have ranged from children’s picture storybooks to young adult narratives, magazines, projected ‘speed drawings’ and huge illustrated maps. She is published by in Australia by Walker Books and in 2014 received the ASA Children’s Picture Book Illustrators’ Initiative.
Liz lives in Newcastle, Australia with her husband Mario.
