Griffith University Josephine Ulrick Prize

Among the richest poetry and short story prize in the world, the Griffith University Josephine Ulrick prize in 2014 are worth $30,000 in prize money. Deadline for submissions is Friday February 14. 

Opening Lines BBC Radio 4

The BBC Radio Drama Readings Unit welcomes submissions from writers new to radio* for their annual series, Opening Lines which is broadcast on BBC Radio 4.

The time allotted for each story is up to 14 minutes, which means submissions must be between 1,900 and 2,000 words in length. We are unable to consider stories which fall outside these parameters.

The next window for sending in material is January 6th – February 14th 2014

The Bath Novel Award

An international competition for unpublished or self-published novels with a £1,000 prize.The Bath Novel Award 2014 competition is open for entries until 00:00 GMT on 28th February 2014. Submissions should include up to the first five thousand words of a novel plus a one page synopsis.

The Guardian Film Series

Pick a topic, any topic (as long as it’s not been done already) - and then find five film clips that relate to the topic in some way.
