Caroline O’Donoghue’s debut about a millennial woman delves into the angst of office politics for naïve young women. It’s a dark and at times witty novel.
Jane Peters is a young woman in her twenties. Her previous relationship has fallen apart and work is its usual drudge. That is, until suddenly she has become visible. Her colleagues are taking her more seriously and she has been promoted.
By day she works in advertising but by night she is an online agony aunt giving advice to strangers on the state of their love life. If only she could sort out her personal life.
After an office party she becomes the ‘other woman’. The damaging affair brings out the worst in her and her health begins to suffer. Friends try to warn her but she ignores them all, sure that she is in control. Soon she has jeopardised her friendships and her wellbeing.
