Yesterday Baz Luhrmann announced further details of his Strictly Ballroom The Musical production. The show will feature many musical crowd favourites such as Love is in the Air, Perhaps Perhaps and Time After Time as well as including new music from the world’s best composers, David Foster (Come What May – Moulin Rouge), Diane Warren, Sia Furler, Eddie Perfect and long time collaborators Craig Pearce and Baz Luhrmann.

Luhrmann took the cast through rehearsals where lead Thomas Lacey’s happy persona brightened up the rehearsal space. He looked as if he still couldn’t quite believe his luck at landing the gig and was having the best time rehearsing the role made famous by Paul Mecurio in the classic film.

Fernando Mira (Rico) treated us to a fabulous performance of the Paso Doble.

Opening night is on Saturday April 12 at The Sydney Lyric Theatre, The Star.
