On November 1, the much anticipated reworking of Sense and Sensibility, penned by Joanna Trollope, will be released.

The Dahswood sisters have been placed in a contemporary setting, but still face the reality of life without their father. Elinor Dashwood is an architecture student who values discretion above all. Her impulsive sister Marianne displays her creativity everywhere as she dreams of going to art school. When the family are forced out of their beloved home for twenty years, their values are put to the test.

Sense and Sensibility launches The Austen Project, a new series of six books that re-imagines Austen's great novels through the eyes of our best known authors. Sense and Sensibility will be followed by Val McDermid’s reworking of Northanger Abbey in April 2014. Curtis Sittenfeld will pen Pride and Prejudice to be published in Autumn 2014 and Alexander McCall Smith, author of No1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, has just been announced as the author of Emma.

Mansfield Park and Persuasion are still up for grabs. Who do you think could shed a new contemporary light on these two classic Austen novels?
